Over the past two years, UREP has taken part in the EYMID project — “Linking European Young Migrants’ Intercultural Dialogue” — an Erasmus+ initiative that brought together young people from Lisbon and Brussels for a series of digital sessions on identity, culture, work, future aspirations, and social challenges. Led by MigratieMuseumMigration (Belgium) and in partnership with Foyer des Jeunes, the project created a safe online environment where young refugees, migrants, and local youth could speak openly, ask questions, compare experiences, and build intercultural understanding across borders.

Throughout nine online sessions, participants discussed topics such as labour market access, socio-cultural values, gender equality, discrimination, social media, arts, and language. These conversations revealed powerful testimonies from young refugees living in Portugal, as well as reflections from second-generation youth in Belgium. Their discussions highlighted both shared challenges and unique perspectives shaped by migration journeys, identity, and local realities.

UREP played a key role in mobilizing and supporting young refugees in Portugal, ensuring their voices were centered throughout the project. Our team also contributed analysis and recommendations that appear in the final publication.

The full report compiles the project’s background, summaries of every digital session, youth reflections, and recommendations from all partner organizations. It offers insights not only into the lives of the participants but also into how digital intercultural dialogue can strengthen connection, confidence, and inclusion among young people across Europe.
