UREP – União de Refugiados em Portugal – is pleased to announce an upcoming international study visit that will bring eleven delegates from World Peace Volunteers to Portugal from 1 to 15 February 2026. This initiative reflects our continued commitment to promoting global cooperation, sharing knowledge, and strengthening community-based approaches to migration management.

Why This Study Visit Matters

Around the world, countries continue to face complex challenges related to irregular migration, refugee reception, and integration. Effective responses depend not only on national systems but also on collaboration between civil society organizations, frontline workers, and community coalitions.

By hosting this study visit, UREP aims to contribute to a global exchange of experience and good practices. The visit is designed to provide direct exposure to Portugal’s frameworks for:

  • refugee and migrant reception,

  • social and community integration,

  • irregular migration management, and

  • grassroots support mechanisms.

The program serves as an opportunity for mutual learning, capacity-building, and strengthening ties between organizations working toward shared humanitarian goals.

Who Is Participating?

The delegation consists of eleven representatives from World Peace Volunteers, a recognized organization dedicated to peacebuilding, youth empowerment, and humanitarian action. Their teams work closely with communities affected by mobility, displacement, and social vulnerability.

Their visit to Portugal marks a new step in technical cooperation between our organizations, paving the way for future partnerships and joint initiatives.

What the Program Includes

Over the course of 10 working days, the delegation will participate in an intensive learning program coordinated by UREP. Activities will include:

  • meetings with UREP’s leadership and project teams

  • workshops on refugee rights, community integration, and migration governance

  • field visits to partner institutions

  • exposure to local reception structures

  • sessions dedicated to practical challenges and innovative solutions

While the core activities take place Monday to Friday, delegates will have weekends free. Including travel days, the full visit spans 15 days, from 1–15 February 2026.

A Step Toward Stronger International Partnerships

This study visit reinforces UREP’s belief that transformative solutions emerge when organizations learn from one another. By opening our doors to international partners, we aim to expand collective capacity, build stronger networks, and support more effective humanitarian responses.

We look forward to welcoming the World Peace Volunteers to Portugal and to sharing an enriching experience that will contribute to better protection, dignity, and opportunities for migrants and refugees worldwide.
