From 15–17 October 2025, UREP took part in the PICUM Member Group Meetings on Health and Detention, held in Brussels. The three-day programme brought together organisations from across Europe to exchange expertise, coordinate advocacy, and strengthen collective strategies to protect the rights and wellbeing of undocumented people.

The meetings opened on 15 October with the Member Group on Health, where participants discussed current challenges in healthcare access for undocumented communities and emerging policy developments at national and EU levels. UREP contributed insights from our work supporting individuals facing barriers to essential medical care.

On 16 October, UREP joined the joint meeting of the Health and Detention groups, an in-person session that explored the growing intersections between health systems and migration enforcement. In the afternoon, participants attended an expert briefing between policymakers and national organisations, focusing on health and migration enforcement policies. This session helped deepen understanding of the structural impacts of enforcement measures on health rights.

The event concluded on 17 October with the Member Group on Detention meeting, where organisations shared updates on detention practices, advocacy strategies, and alternatives to detention. UREP highlighted our ongoing work monitoring detention conditions and supporting affected individuals.

Throughout the three days, UREP engaged in constructive dialogue with partners and reaffirmed our commitment to collaborative, human-rights-based approaches to health, detention, and migration policies in Europe. We thank PICUM for convening these important discussions and look forward to continued cooperation within the network.
